Every winter, on the Gran Risa slope in Alta Badia, one of the most iconic races of the Alpine Ski World Cup takes place.
This project doesn’t portray the competition itself, but what makes it possible: invisible work, daily precision, a ritual that repeats year after year.
For two seasons, I observed the mountain before the crowds arrived, before the athletes entered the course.
I followed the quiet preparation of the slope, the gestures of the people who maintain it, the focused stillness of those who face a legendary track.
A visual story shaped by snow, light, and discipline.
GRAN RISA
40TH ANNIVERSARY PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK
Between 2023 and 2024 I developed Gran Risa a photographic and narrative project dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Gran Risa slope: one of the most iconic courses of the Alpine Ski World Cup.
The work took shape as an author’s photography book, the result of two years of on-field documentation, and as a exhibition presented at the Leitner Lounge during the World Cup stage in Alta Badia.
A visual story that intertwines athletic gesture, territorial identity and memory, capturing the spirit of a place where competition meets history.
Shot over two winter seasons on the Gran Risa slope, one of the most iconic and demanding venues in international alpine skiing.
